The Foundation's Current Goals (2024)

Raising Awareness

Although the Gibsons & District Library Foundation has been in existence since 2001, many in the community are not aware of the Foundation, the work we do, or the funds we've contributed to the Library.

Our success in supporting the Gibsons & District Public Library depends on annual fundraising efforts and the occasional receipt of bequests, which are invested to bring in annual income over time. We can raise more funds for the Library when more people are aware of the Gibsons &  District Library Foundation.

We encourage you to tell your friends about us by sending them a link to this website and encouraging them to join our mailing list.

Now that the impacts of the pandemic are (hopefully) waning, we also look forward to getting out into the community to hold fundraising and awareness events. We're looking for volunteers who are willing to help prepare for and organize events, or volunteer for an afternoon or evening at an event.

Raising Funds

The next big Library project that the Foundation has committed to support is the renovation of the Youth/Teen area of Library, which is to be completed during 2024. This will be a big project, with a cost likely to run in the tens of thousands.

If you would like to support the creation of a more inviting space in the Gibsons & District Public Library for young people, please consider donating towards this important project. Donations can be made online using CanadaHelps. (If you wish to make a donation of several thousand dollars or more, we encourage you to contact us to make alternate arrangements for payment.)

I love the Gibsons Library! It’s a gorgeous refuge where I can lose myself in the stacks and sit to read overlooking the harbour. They have all the latest magazines, and, best of all they have volunteers who do seniors' taxes for free!  It’s a truly valuable community resource.
