Supporting Gibsons & District Public Library, Together
Sunshine Coast residents love the Gibsons & District Public Library. And so do we!
We're the Gibsons & District Library Foundation Society. We're here to raise funds for the Gibsons & District Public Library – funds that go beyond the core funding provided by government. These extra funds allow the Library to offer new programs and undertake new capital projects like improvements to its public spaces or purchase of new equipment such as the book locker in Upper Gibsons.
We're an unpaid, volunteer-run organization whose success is made possible by the contributions of members of our community.
Recent News
2025 marked the completion of the Library's Youth Area Enhancement Project, wholly financed by the Gibsons & District Library Foundation Society. The first phase of the project, implemented in 2024, provided new furniture, lighting fixtures, and decor for the revamped youth area. The second phase of this project was completed in mid-2025 to add the technology component that includes six Hublet shared tablets and docking system, a virtual reality headset with games and software, an electronic drawing tablet, and a C-Pen text-to-speech reader. A GDLF grant of approximately $52,000 was provided for this two-year innovative project that now provides a fresh, welcoming, and functional space in the Library for local teens and tweens.
Also in 2025, the Foundation financed the highly successful Comic Camp program, Library of Things STEAM Kits, and the purchase of a high-speed multifunction printer for use by Library visitors. The new machine supports high quality colour and b&w printing, scanning, and copying for all types of documents while providing much improved flexibility and reliability for its users.

Receive the Foundation Newsletter
By receiving our email newsletter, you'll be notified when we hold events to increase awareness about the Library Foundation or raise funds. Many in the community don't know that there is a foundation supporting the Gibsons & District Public Library. When you attend events and tell your friends, you help support the library.
Donate to the Foundation
Donations to the Foundation are invested responsibly and conservatively, with the goal of generating income over the long term to support the library annually with selected projects. Some of the projects we've helped fund are the new book locker, library renovations, and purchase of AV equipment, iPads and STEAM learning kits.
Volunteer with the Foundation!
If you have a passion for libraries, enjoy being involved in the community, and want to collaborate with like-minded people, please reach out to us. Volunteer opportunities include one-time activities, such as manning our table at a public event, through to longer-term commitments such as joining our board.

I am a regular library user and honestly don’t know what I would do without it!
I frequently use their website to put books on hold and appreciate how quick and easy it is to stop in, grab my holds and use the self checkout. I read a lot of new fiction and have saved hundreds of dollars by using the library. One of my favourite features is the "Staff Picks" sticker - Sue has great taste! I’m never disappointed!
I check out cookbooks quite frequently to use for work, to learn new techniques and recipes to share with my students.
